Best Shopify SEO Agency

Search “best shopify seo agency” and you mostly get two things. Directories with fifty names and a star rating. And listicles that are really one agency’s ad wearing a ranking costume.

Neither answers what you actually came to ask: who will grow organic revenue on your Shopify store, and who will bill you for an audit that sleeps in a folder for six months.

Since 2018, I’ve been running SEO for DTC and ecommerce brands, a lot of it on Shopify. So I’ve seen both sides. Stores a “great” agency had already touched, canonicals still a mess. Brands rebuilding after getting burned. So take this list as criticism. No, not criticism. Opinion. The kind I’d give a friend who’s choosing an agency.

One disclosure up front: FJ Solutions is the agency I’m part of, and we’re number one on this list. Read that with whatever skepticism it deserves, then judge the reasoning.

The short answer

Want one team owning your whole growth engine on Shopify? Start with FJ Solutions. Pure-play SEO with transparent reporting? Break The Web or Searchbloom. A Shopify-only specialist? EcomX. Smaller and founder-led? CarlowSEO. Design and dev alongside the SEO? Electric Eye.

Mid-market and need to defend the SEO budget upstairs? Inflow. Retail or fashion wanting a fuller funnel? Globe Runner. SEO that’s really a development job? 1Digital. A plateaued DTC brand that wants search run as one system? Stryde.

Same thing at a glance:

How I actually judged these

Star ratings on a directory don’t tell you whether an agency understands Shopify. Here’s what I weighted instead.

  • Platform fluency. Do they get the Shopify-specific traps (more on those below)? An agency that talks about SEO like the platform doesn’t matter is a tell.
  • Numbers tied to revenue, not “we increased traffic significantly.”
  • Conversion and retention. Traffic that doesn’t convert is a vanity metric.
  • Reporting that isolates real organic. Shopify’s analytics will happily blend organic with paid and direct if nobody separates the channels. “Traffic is up” is not the same as “SEO is working.”
  • Contract terms. Long lock-ins with no early proof of work make me nervous. They should make you nervous too.

Why Shopify SEO is its own thing

Quick detour, because it’s basically the reason this list exists. A generalist SEO agency can tank on Shopify. I’ve cleaned up the aftermath more than once.

The URL trap. By default a product lives at /products/the-handle. Click into that same product from a collection, though, and Shopify serves it at /collections/the-collection/products/the-handle.

The canonical points back to the clean URL, so most people assume they’re covered. They’re not.

Your own internal links (every related-product block, every collection grid) point at the /collections/… version. See the problem? The link equity that should consolidate on one URL gets sprayed across duplicates.

Canonicals tell Google which page to index. They don’t control where your internal authority flows. Fixing that across a full catalog is unglamorous work that quietly moves rankings, and almost no generalist checks it.

Speed. Every app you bolt on (reviews, upsells, the popup begging people not to leave) injects its own JavaScript. It stacks until your Largest Contentful Paint is in the weeds. And on Shopify, half the generic speed advice hits a wall: you can only edit the theme so far, and you can’t touch checkout at all.

The 2026 AI layer. This is where I’m spending real time now. Shopify’s Winter release leaned hard into Sidekick, Agentic Storefronts, and the Knowledge Base. Two warnings from the field.

One: Sidekick suggests changes and can apply them on the spot. Including rewriting a product title. Let an untrained hand click yes on carefully optimized titles, and months of work are gone in an afternoon. I treat its suggestions like a junior’s first draft. Never gospel.

Two: the Knowledge Base is now part of the SEO job. Agentic Storefronts push products into ChatGPT, Copilot, and Perplexity, and what gets you surfaced there is clean structured data and tight variant modeling, not vibes.

Fill the Knowledge Base with your real product facts, FAQs, and brand voice, or the agents will improvise about your business. Sometimes they get it flat wrong. In public. That one’s preventable.

While we’re here: “AEO” and “GEO,” optimizing for AI Overviews and AI chat? It’s SEO. Same retrieval and grounding underneath, same fundamentals that win a featured snippet. Don’t pay extra for the renamed package.

Okay. The list. Number one is my pick, and I’ve disclosed why. Past that, read the order loosely: it’s grouped by fit, not a strict podium.

1. FJ Solutions: best for ecommerce brands that want their whole growth engine in one place

FJ Solutions website

Disclosure still applies. This is us. Weigh it how you like.

We’re a data-driven digital marketing agency that’s been doing ecommerce for more than 20 years (since 2004). The pitch is one team, one strategy: SEO and Shopify SEO sitting next to ecommerce marketing, development, design, copywriting and content creation, email and SMS, paid ads on Google and Meta, and GA4 consulting.

Why does that range matter on Shopify? Because a ranking problem is usually a development, content, or measurement problem wearing an SEO costume. When the same group owns all of it, nothing dies in the handoff between vendors. The throughline is in the name we give it ourselves: real, measurable growth. Not activity for its own sake.

Best for: brands that want a single partner owning organic growth and everything that moves it (the site, the content, email, ads, and the analytics that prove what worked). Our case studies are public if you want to see how that plays out, and the full picture lives on our Shopify SEO page.

2. Break The Web: best for DTC brands that want plain-English, transparent reporting

Break The Web website

A New York boutique known for one thing above all: reporting that tells you what got done and why, minus the jargon agencies hide behind. Their SEO lead has been running campaigns since 2010, squarely focused on DTC ecommerce.

If you’ve ever stared at an agency report with no idea what you paid for, that’s the gap they close.

Better matched elsewhere if: you need heavy custom theme development or a full replatform handled in-house.

3. Searchbloom: best for brands that want to work straight with the people doing the work

Searchbloom website

Searchbloom built their model against the agency black box. No account-manager middle layer. You talk to the analysts actually in your store, and they run on an earn-it basis instead of long lock-in contracts.

Been ghosted by an agency after signing? That structure alone is worth the call.

Better matched elsewhere if: you want a partner to own and budget a multi-year roadmap, where long-range planning matters more than the month-to-month posture.

4. EcomX Agency: best when you want a dedicated Shopify-only specialist

EcomX Agency website

EcomX has worked only on Shopify since 2015, and that focus is the point. No attention split across ten platforms, so the reflexes for product-page optimization, internal linking, and the speed issues above are second nature.

Straightforward Shopify build, want someone who lives in it daily? Strong match.

Better matched elsewhere if: your real bottleneck is brand or conversion rather than search. A pure-SEO specialist will optimize a funnel that might be leaking somewhere they don’t touch.

5. CarlowSEO: best for smaller brands that want a hands-on founder

CarlowSEO website

Founder-led and pure-play SEO. CarlowSEO is who I’d point a smaller brand toward when they want a real person close to the work, not a junior handed off by a sales team. Small shop, so you get attention and fair pricing.

Better matched elsewhere if: you’re scaling fast and will soon need a deep bench across technical SEO, content, dev, and paid. Know which stage you’re in.

6. Electric Eye: best when you want design and development alongside the SEO

Electric Eye website

A Shopify design and build boutique that also does SEO, and for lifestyle and DTC brands that pairing is genuinely handy.

Remember the point about Shopify SEO problems often being development problems? A shop that can edit your theme and your title tags closes that gap in one place.

Better matched elsewhere if: search is your single priority and you don’t need design or dev.

7. Inflow: best for mid-market brands that need to prove SEO’s worth upstairs

Inflow website

Ecommerce-only since 2007, out of Denver and Tampa. The structure is the draw: no account managers, you work straight with senior SEO, PPC, and CRO specialists. They’ve said no to website builds and PR on purpose, and that kind of focus is how a team gets genuinely sharp.

Where they stand out is analytics discipline. If you’re the one defending the SEO line item in a quarterly review, Inflow hands you the attribution to win that conversation. Best around the $2M to $20M range, scaling paid and organic together.

Better matched elsewhere if: you need heavy in-house development for a complex rebuild.

8. Globe Runner: best for retail and fashion brands that want a fuller funnel

Globe Runner website

A Dallas boutique at this since 2008, with real technical-SEO chops and deep retail and fashion experience (also financial services and food, if you straddle B2C and B2B). They run SEO, PPC, content, and marketing automation, so it’s a wider shop than the pure specialists.

Want one team holding organic and paid together instead of refereeing two vendors? Clean fit.

Better matched elsewhere if: you specifically want a Shopify-only specialist, since Globe Runner works across platforms and verticals.

9. 1Digital Agency: best when SEO and development have to live under one roof

1Digital Agency website

A recurring truth about Shopify SEO: a lot of the fixes are dev work. 1Digital, out of Philadelphia and a Shopify Plus Partner since 2012, is built for that overlap.

SEO runs next to in-house design and development across Shopify, BigCommerce, and Magento, and they’re strong on the messy stuff most shops avoid: migrations, replatforming, big or tangled catalogs. If your SEO problem is really technical debt, both skill sets in one building saves you from refereeing two vendors who blame each other.

Better matched elsewhere if: you want a tiny boutique where one senior strategist owns every detail. At 50-plus people they run more like a machine than a corner shop.

10. Stryde: best for plateaued DTC brands that want search run as one system

Stryde website

A Utah boutique that does three things on purpose and nothing else: SEO, Google Ads, and AI search optimization. Founder Greg Shuey has two decades in ecommerce search, the strategist who builds your plan is the one who runs it, and retainers start lower than most names here (around $2,500 a month, last I saw).

The idea I like: run organic, paid, and AI results as one compounding system, not three campaigns that never talk. Aimed at DTC brands in the $1M to $15M range that have stalled.

Better matched elsewhere if: you need design, development, or email folded in. Stryde stays in the search lane by design.

How to choose in two minutes

Match the agency to your actual bottleneck, not to whoever ranks first for “best shopify seo agency” (the irony of me writing that is not lost on me).

  • One team owning the whole growth engine: FJ Solutions.
  • Been burned, want to see the work every month: Break The Web or Searchbloom.
  • Clean Shopify build, want a specialist heads-down on search: EcomX.
  • Small budget, want a founder who actually answers: CarlowSEO.
  • Store needs a design or dev glow-up too: Electric Eye.
  • Mid-market, defending the SEO budget upstairs: Inflow.
  • Retail or fashion, organic and paid under one roof: Globe Runner.
  • Your SEO problems are really dev problems, or you’re replatforming: 1Digital.
  • Growing DTC that’s plateaued, wants SEO, ads, and AI search as one play: Stryde.

FAQ

What is the best SEO for Shopify?

A mix of technical cleanup (canonical tags on variant and collection URLs, page speed, structured data) and people-first content that answers what shoppers actually search. The single biggest lever for most stores is fixing the technical duplication Shopify creates by default, then building content around product and category intent.

How much does a Shopify SEO agency cost?

For a serious ecommerce engagement in the US, most quality agencies land between $1,500 and $8,000 a month, depending on catalog size and scope. Be skeptical of anything far below that range. Real SEO is labor, and labor that cheap usually means automated, unreviewed work, which is exactly what sinks sites.

Is SEO worth it for a Shopify store?

For most product brands, yes. Paid acquisition costs keep climbing, and organic traffic compounds instead of stopping the day you pause spend. The honest caveat: SEO is slow. If you need revenue this month, that’s a paid-ads problem, not an SEO one. Run both if you can.

Do I really need a Shopify-specific SEO agency?

Not strictly, but the platform has enough quirks (variant URLs, locked robots.txt, app-induced speed issues) that a team working in Shopify daily avoids mistakes a generalist learns on your dime.

How long until Shopify SEO starts working?

Technical fixes can show up in weeks. Content and authority gains usually take three to six months to move meaningfully, and competitive categories take longer. Anyone promising page-one in 30 days is selling something I wouldn’t buy.
